Details:

Riding on six axles, three-motor trucks, they were designed to offer more starting tr active effort in road service than the gp7. In appearance, they are very similar to the gp7 only with a longer hood. Features - new paragon 3 sound operation system featuring rolling thunderstorm with authentic sounds and prototypical in both dc dcc environments locomotive composition: abs body die cast chassis couplets: 2 operating jade or compatible tracks: code 83 100 rail minimum radius: 18 greater. These trucks were so smooth that the sd7 was compared to riding in a luxury car.

The sd7 for special duty was a massive locomotive at 60 feet 8 inches from couplet to and weighing 360,000 pounds. This consisted of the introduction new locomotive model numbers, sw9 12 f9a b, gp9, and sd9. The grill assembly protrudes from side of hood whereas with gp7 grills are fit flush.
